trip to the zoo- ages ago

This trip may have been a month ago, I don't remember, but it was before Ivan's haircut that's for sure. Both kids got scared. The beautiful peacock was walking ever so calm and gentle, to within a couple feet of the kids, then let out the most horrific screech. I don't think he passed the zoo welcoming group class. Dominique was terrified and crying for a while. The picture of Ivan with his shoulders up was his scared stance when we suggested that he feed the giraffe. He also did this and would draw his arms up and shake them when a monkey sneaked up on him and when a volunteer asked if he wanted to touch a snake. Really, we did enjoy the trip and the kids generally liked the animals. Their reactions have been far worse visiting other places, like the doctor's office. Ivan throws a total fit if they even want to weigh him or measure his height. He was getting weighed and measured at another office and would not cooperate which may be the reason that according to my records, he shrunk. His weight is 30lbs 6oz, we had to get that with me holding him and then subtracting my weight (no I won't tell you what we weighed together). Dominique weighed 19 lbs.

Dominique is still tooting her horn and gifts continue to pour in! A couple days ago a neighbor stopped by with a gift and today she got a gift from Japan or somewhere in Asia. Dad sent her the entire baby Einstein collection (23 dvd!) so, since they watch one a day, they could watch a new one nearly everyday of the month. The other grands also did huge gifts which translated into her huge party and new car seat. I'm not going to call her spoiled, just very very loved.

We don't use French near enough, but Ivan uses a couple of French names more than the English. Crocodile- he pronounces in French because he has a book all about them in French. He also prefers to say cochon rather that pig.

In the last post, I meant to have you notice in the last picture, in the top left corner, the glimmer of blue is from our bluebonnet that is still holding on. Normally they only last a short period in the spring, but that one plant in the shade, with lots of water has been fooled into hanging around through summer.

I'm glad you told us who he was saying Bye to.
We did listen more than once and finally "got" it.
We love posts of both pictures and videos whether old or new.
