We had a super full weekend including a graduation party to attend and a wedding to go to. We were all tuckered out after that. Last week the heat started and it's not looking to get any better. It's supposed to break 100 F all week. The kids and I went to our neighbor's so that the kids could play in their pool. Here are Valerie and Logan. They are fleeing north for 4 months to escape the heat and not pay the air conditioning bill. I'm not joking. Her husband will be deployed and she and her son are headed to her home, where the weather is reasonable. In the meantime, we filled her kiddy pool and ate popsicles and watermelon.
Emora has learned some new tricks lately. She decided at the graduation party that since nobody was feeding her, she'd help herself to her own snack.
She has also been exercising a lot on a jumpy toy and exersaucer, so I was wondering if it was time to see if she can stand. As you can see she can. Dad used to do this trick with us when we were about this age. He says it will only work for a while before the baby figures out that they should indeed fear this precarious situation even if being held (if you can call it that) by a parent.
Brian planted a forest of sunflowers this year, because they are fun and they provide shade for the rest of the garden. Yep, sounds weird, but even those little packets that say plant in full sun, don't mean Abilene, Texas full sun. We learned that the hard way after cooking our plants 5 years consecutively and having little to no produce because of it. Our gardens have always burnt up by July despite careful watering. Did you know that tomato plants can die when watered in the heat? I guess those picky plants don't like steam baths. Another year, we learned that while keeping the soaker hose hooked up to just turn on when needed may be convenient, the plants do not appreciate the steaming hot water they are forced to drink out of it. That hot water does take the edge off of water in the kiddy pool though. Live and learn. Maybe this year the garden will last through the summer. That would be nice.

I have a picture of your dad "holding" Gianna like that at 4 months old. Linaya never would do it as she was always a bouncy baby.
I hope you have a great trip up here, be prepared that it is nowhere near hot up here!
Emora is doing well to be standing in your hand at 4 1/2 months. I'm looking forward to seeing her in person for the first time.I'll be glad to have a picture taken with her standing in my hand.
While you had super hot weather this weekend - we had snow! A nice middle of the road would be nice eh?
I love the trick photo! I am so glad I was a private audience for it at the mall playdate. She is so cute.
