8 days ago we set off from Abilene, Texas for Fort Qu'appelle, SK, Canada. We found out the day before we left that Brian's Ford F150 extended cab truck would not fit on the flatbed we had entended to rent, so good for us that the Vann's were already coming. Joey drove Brian's truck, Brian drove the U-haul and I drove the van, with Angie as my dvd manager, snack dispenser and keeper of sanity. The dog rode in the back of the van too, but she was so easy, we forgot she was there for the most part.
Upon arrival, there was a welcome party of sorts. My cousin invited her extended family and we had burgers and stories until so late at night, some of us fell asleep in chairs and had to drag themselves off to bed.
Angie asked Ivan how many cousins he had played with this week. I said that it depended how you count cousins. Some that I call aunts are actually cousins, so if we count them all, we tabulated 15. And that's with us missing the wedding that took place in Stoon the day after we arrived in the country. If we had been there for that, it would not only have been tons of fun to see everyone, but we wouldn't have been able to count cousins.
We arrived in Stoon Wed. and in the next few days Joey and Angie got to experience the wild fluctuations of Saskatchewan weather. At first it was rainy and cool. Another day it was warm and overcast, but we got to walk along the river bank. Saturday, it rained, hailed, got very hot, then rainy and cold all of a sudden again. We did manage to get out and walk the trails at Beaver Creek during a perfect moment in that mix. The kids got every minute of reading, ping pong playing and hillarity that they could squeeze out of the Vanns. But they had to leave this morning to return to Abilene.
This picture was taken in the plant area of the Mendel Art gallery, where we got some wedding pictures taken when we were married 12 years ago! Tomorrow we are heading back to Fort Qu'appelle hoping to find a home. Pray up a storm of good tidings on us, as the bank doesn't seem to like the fact that we don't have permanent jobs yet. You would think great credit, no debt and some money in the bank would mean something!! So we could use a little divine intervention here. We also have a few more tactical things to take care of and hope to send Ivan to school for a couple of days of kindergarten this week. Then we will be back in Stoon where Brian is going to start working on John and Jenn's house that they are retrofitting.

Praying for a home. Banks are funny that way. They want to feel that they will get their investment back. Sometimes they feel if you owe, you are a better risk.
Go figure!
