They are easier to detect after the fact. They are uncanny encounters, brushes with the supernatural, where the presence of the Lover accompanies us in a very real way, sheltering, directing, loving, moving, giving life to our everyday existence. You can't totally explain the experience, but you leave shaken to the very depths, knowing that you have been kissed by the Divine.

Slowly getting back
We're home- after a very long day of flight delays and a day of trying to dig ourselves out of packing, mail, messages... It's amazing how long it takes to try to unpack with two littles ones bouncing off the walls.
The kids flew great CONSIDERING... considering that our first flight, that was supposed to be 2 hours became 6 hours. There was fog in Minneapolis, so we circled hoping it would lift, which it didn't. As fuel got low, we went to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where we couldn't leave the plane since they don't have customs there. So we waited until the fog lifted and returned to our original first stop. Ivan and Dominique fell asleep as the plane was descending, which meant we had to wake them up so that they could walk through immigration, where we had to retrieve all 8 items of our checked luggage, carry-ons and kids. They had already booked us on new flights, both of which were also delayed. Once we finally arrived in Abilene after 17 hours of travel with two kids (one of which didn't nap, except those 5 minutes), our luggage was delayed until the next flight and one piece until the next day. It was very long and once again I was dizzy tired by the time we got here. It was good to be back in the house and our pets were ecstatic to see us. I was thankful we made it in one piece and realized that if we had driven, all of that would have just been day one!
Ivan loved flying- he's the one who stayed awake and cried as we drove to the house because he wanted to go on more planes. I asked him what was his favorite part from the trip and he said drinking chocolate and the airplanes. I asked him if he also enjoyed baby Imogen, Christmas, playing the Wii and hanging out with the family and he declared with gusto that those were all his favorites. It was so great to be there and I'll now inundate you with the tales and pictures. It's always bitter sweet to leave and come back, but I did appreciate not having to bundle the kids in layers to go outside. Yesterday it was so hot (77 F 15 C) that we didn't need jackets and I had to put the air on in the car.
I'm hoping Ivan will get back to his normal self. He hasn't been listening or obeying well for the last week or so. It's hard getting out of routine sometimes I guess. I have two extras today, so that makes it a little harder to get the kids back to regular. Micah and Caleb are very sweet though (9months and 3 years and are listening better than my little high flyer so far).
Our neighbor Big Buddy had cataract surgery today and it went well. It was good to see him and come home to friends who love us so much. We are very blessed.

It is also GREAT to know that you are HOME safe and sound.
Hope the adjustment back to reality goes well.
Wow I'm tired just reading about your return. I'm so happy y'all made that long trip home safely. Now after the mountain of laundry and reorganizing your Christmas gifts, it will get back to "normal".
I'm glad you made it back safely.
Is that video from the trains in Dallas? Those things go SOOO FAST! Maybe I was just delirious from flying back from London the day I rode on them, but really seemed too fast for standing up!
Sheesh - what a road trip!
That sounds fantastic! I love the picture of Ivan in the reflection of the window.
